VCU's Shaka Smart To Sing At Wrigley Field In May

VCU men's basketball coach Shaka Smart has set a date to sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at Wrigley Field.

Smart, a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, will perform during the seventh-inning stretch May 8, when the Cubs host the Cincinnati Reds, ESPNChicago.com reported. The Cubs invited Smart and Butler coach Brad Stevens to sing as their teams were advancing through the NCAA Tournament. Smart quickly said he would accept.

May 8 holds great significance for Smart; his late grandfather, Walter King, was born on that date. Smart will use his trip to Wrigley as a tribute to King, who died during this year’s tournament. Smart last month recalled his trips with King to the historical baseball field when Smart was growing up in Madison, Wis.
