UNCG Names Wendy Palmer New Coach
GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina-Greensboro has hired former Virginia All-American Wendy Palmer as its women's basketball coach.
UNC Greensboro on Tuesday said Palmer would replace Lynne Agee, who retired last month after 30 years at the school.
Palmer is a native of Timberlake, N.C., who spent the past two seasons on Virginia's staff. She played for the Cavaliers in the mid-1990s and was a two-time Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year before starting an 11-year WNBA career.
Former Virginia coach Debbie Ryan called the hire "a home run."
Palmer will start her new job Thursday.
