Pat Summitt Diagnosed With Early-Onset Dementia

The University of Tennessee and the world of women’s basketball received some shocking news on Tuesday.
Pat Summitt, the legendary coach of the Lady Volunteers and perhaps the most recognizable face in women’s basketball, has been diagnosed with early onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type, according to The News Sentinel and The Washington Post.
Summitt underwent of series of tests at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., in May and received the shocking news.
The 59-year-old is planning to coach her 38th season with the program that she’s led to 1,071 victories and eight national titles. She also has the support from the University's administration to do so.
She planned to inform her players in a team meeting on Tuesday.
