Pat Knight Fired At Texas Tech

SBNation.com, Chris Mottram

Pat Knight has been fired as head coach of the Texas Tech basketball team, according to Red Raider Sports' Chris Level. Knight -- son of legendary basketball coach Bob Knight -- led the Red Raiders to a 13-18 overall record this season, with five regular season Big 12 wins. Texas Tech finished the 2011 season tied for 10th in the conference.

According to Level, Knight will coach Texas Tech in the Big 12 conference tournament, which begins on Wednesday.

This season was Knight's third full season as Texas Tech head coach -- he coached 10 games in the 2007-08 season after his father retired in Feburary. Pat Knight struggled in the Big 12 throughout his three full seasons, winning just 12 games in conference. His only winning season came last year, in which the Red Raiders went 19-16 and made it to the NIT quarterfinals. His overall record at Texas Tech is 50-60.
