Mizzou Set To Hire Miami's Haith

Frank Haith will leave his position as head coach of the Miami Hurricanes to become the new man in charge of Missouri basketball, a source close to the search process told Sporting News late Sunday night.

Haith, 45, will succeed Mike Anderson, who left the Tigers last month to become head coach at Arkansas.

In a challenging basketball environment with limited fan support, Haith led Miami to one NCAA Tournament appearance and four NIT berths in seven seasons as the Hurricanes head coach, compiling a 129-101 record.

His teams struggled at times in ACC play, going 43-69 overall, although many of those losses were concentrated in two disappointing 4-12 conference seasons.

One aspect that made advancing the Miami program challenging were the frequently sparse home crowds, which led to difficulty in gaining a homecourt advantage in league games. Haith has posted only one losing season overall as a college head coach.

He is familiar with the Big 12 from his days as an assistant under Rick Barnes at Texas. Haith also served as an assistant at Penn State and Wake Forest.

He is a native of Queens, N.Y., and graduated from Elon College.
