Controversial Ex-Memphis Coach Kirk Dies

Dana Kirk, who led Memphis State to the Final Four in 1985 but then was fired a year later due to legal problems, died yesterday of a heart attack at the age of 74. Kirk was 158-58 at Memphis but on Nov. 20. 1986, he was indicted by a federal grand jury on 11 counts of tax evasion, filing false income tax returns, mail fraud and obstruction of justice.
